So I love making homemade pizzas, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I discovered the beauty and ease of making my own pizza dough. I was always under the impression that making pizza dough from scratch was really hard and that dealing with yeast was really tricky, but I totally proved myself wrong last night during my first attempt to make dough from scratch. I found this really easy recipe online (thank goodness for the internet) and went from there.
I have to say my pizza turned out really well and Nick even commented this morning that it looked like a professional pizza. So I am giving myself props for it. So here is the recipe to the really easy dough. I encourage everyone to try it out, you will never go back to store bought pizza bases again!
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
7 g sachet of dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
½ cup warm water
1. Combine dry ingredients together in large bowl and add the oil and water
2. Mix to a soft dough
3. Knead on a floured surface until soft and pliable
4. Return to large bowl and cover with saran wrap and leave in a warm spot for approx. 30 minutes. The dough should double in size.
5. When it has risen, “punch” the dough once to remove air bubbles
6. Remove from bowl and knead gently for 1 minute
7. Roll the dough to desired thickness and shape and add your favorite pizza toppings.
