Love is bitter sweet

As some of you may be aware, my relationship with Perth (my current city of residence) is a little tumultuous at the moment. Yes, we have our ups and downs and there things about this place that drive me mad, but there are certainly tons of things I absolutely love about this city. So I will take this opportunity to reflect on all the things I love about Perth and try to stay away from my frustrations with the limited trading hours of stores and the crazy prices they charge for things here.

Things I love about this city:

1. The Weather, it is so beautiful and refreshing and NO humidity. I have so many better hair days!
2. The Beaches, they are 1,000 times better than Galveston. The water is crystal blue and fabulous and the sand is so white and crisp.
3. The vibe of the city, it is so laid back.
4. I can walk to places, like my work, shops, cafes and bars.
5. Coffee, the coffee culture here is so unique and I don’t ever miss Starbucks.
6. The alfresco dinning, this goes back to point number 1.
7. All the Asian and Indian Food, it is to die for.
8. The markets on the weekend when I can buy fresh flowers and the freshest fruit and vegetables.

Time goes by so quickly

I can't believe that Nick and I have been in Perth for almost two years now; time has gone by so fast! I feel like it was just the other day when I left Houston for the land down under for what I thought would be only a year, key word being thought. But I have to say it has been an amazing experience. I do miss things about Houston, like being close to family and friends and Tex-Mex food, but Perth is so beautiful that it is hard not to like.

After being sick almost all week with a viral bug, I finally felt good enough to enjoy the lovely weather that we've been having lately. It seems like overnight the rain and the cold days disappeared (we are finishing up winter) and out came the beautiful sun and the blue skies. As I made my way downtown, I couldn't help but soak up the pretty day.

I had a successful day of shopping as I discovered at David Jones (major Department Store) they had some US foods in stock. I can't tell you how excited I was to see canned pumpkin and Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix! It totally made my day.
